Additional leave put on conditions of maternity leaves.

As of 1 January 2010 regulations of Labor Code (Journal of Law No 219, sec. 1704) granting additional entitlement related to parenthood are in force. These regulations have entered a year ago (act from 6 December 2008 changing Labor Code and some other acts - Journal of Law 2008, No 237, sec. 1654), however being in force from this 1 January. Based on this amendment additional leave on conditions of maternity leave has been introduced in the scope of up to six weeks in case of birth of one child, in case of giving birth to more than a one child - eight weeks. This leave is granted directly after a maternity leave was used, under written motion of employee. Additional maternity leave belongs to father also, on identical terms with conceding of maternity leave for employee of -father.

Entering this regulations was aimed at admitting to employees (both mothers and fathers) a possibility to extend maternity leave voluntary in situation, when they do not want to separate from a child, yet do not want to use educational leave for some reasons.
